Hmm, it appears we have an MC Sandwich on our hands. Much like a compliment sandwich (Your blog has a lot of heart, but I'd rather go to Pitchfork, but your font is pretty!), except here it's two MCs bookending...Xzibit. I'm not trying to be a hatin' ass hater, but you know Raekwon and Murs were probably genuinely geeked to rap about ninjas and shit over some mid 90s RZAesque beat. Raekwon's been doing that for almost 20 years (!) now, while Murs is just a nerd when it comes down to it (read the liner notes to his first album if you doubt that assertion). On the other hand, X was probably thinking about how the good ol' days when he was putting fishtanks in Toyota Tercels...or the next shitty film he's got lined up (Update: Apparently this movie isn't shitty at all..but pretty good...stain on me). He doesn't ruin the song though, and Murs and Rae more than make up for any Xzibit related lag (and the tired and inexplicable inclusion of a naked woman peppered throughout the video). Damn, Rae is having a hell of an '09...it's like I'm 12 and in the Wu-Tang fan club all over again.

good post, Rob. I had forgotten how much I like Raekwon [tis the season for mono and grizzly bear]. I'll probably be checking out this movie, but lone wolf & cub and tony jaa flicks are currently at the top of my movies list [and oh yeah, sherlock]
