Apparently it's supposed to be about 110 degrees Fahrenheit here in Chicago tomorrow…well maybe not, but at least warm enough that now we can all put away those winter coats for good. Now that short-sleeves are slowly reappearing throughout our fair city, I feel obliged to post something to play for the upcoming cookouts, stoop drinking sessions, bike rides, and iPods while walking to street festivals. Primal Scream's Screamadelica fits the bill just about perfectly, and if you don't have this album already, you now have one less (shitty) excuse to run out and buy it. Seamlessly blending the best parts of psychedelic rock and dance music prevalent throughout England in the early 90s (see The Stone Roses, "Fools Gold", The Happy Mondays, Madchester, the 88 version of "Summer of Love", etc…), Screamadelica is all good vibes, even on the few slower moving tracks. If you listen to this album and don't find yourself smiling (or maybe even dancing) by the end, you should reconsider the whole "music" thing. It's probably not for you.Bonus Point: The dude who started Primal Scream used to be the drummer for a little band known as The Jesus and Mary Chain. Fuckin' right.

You told me to get some Primal Scream last year [actually maybe a year and a half ago] and I never did. And now I will.
...and THAT is exactly why I blog! :)
