Some potentially great news from Soul Jazz records. Frustrated by the ridiculous third party prices for The World of Arthur Russell compilation, I decided to email Soul Jazz about the possibility of a reissue. Admittedly, I was writing out of frustration and didn't expect an immediate response or answer. So it was to my great surprise to get a reply the very next day (!) with the news that Soul Jazz plans to reissue The World of Arthur Russell at the end of the month (!!!). The timing couldn't be better, with the success and critical acclaim of recent Arthur Russell compilations. Unlike recent compilations, The World of Arthur Russell focuses more on the dancefloor ready material recorded by Russell (and his Dinosaur L moniker). So if this email is correct, start saving up your pennies kids, you've only got a few weeks before you can purchase this compilation for a reasonable price again.
