(VIDEO) Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - "The Singer", "Tupelo", "In the Ghetto"

Mute Records is re-releasing Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Kicking Against the Pricks with a bunch of extra goodies. To remind us of this, they've uploaded a video of "The Singer." Seeing as how my love affair with all things Nick Cave shows no signs of ending anytime soon, it should come as no surprise to find the video here. The song is a very spare arrangement, with Cave's guitar effectively serving as the period to the end of each delivered sentence. I love that this could have been a disaster in the hands of a less capable songwriter, but here it simply calls attention to Cave's delivery and lyrics about the entertainer who's best days are long behind him. Enjoy.

UPDATE: It looks like Mute is reissuing a lot of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds albums. Guess what that means? MORE videos!!!

From The Firstborn is Dead, the legendary "Tupelo":

From From Her to Eternity, "In the Ghetto." An Elvis Presley (must...withhold...the...hate...) cover, I believe:

For those baffled or reluctant to buy in to all the Nick Cave love, consider this. Nick Cave is 51 years old....what was your favorite artist doing at 50 years old? I'd bet damn good money he or she wasn't releasing one of the best albums of the year. Yup.
