Hey Chicago, let's get behind this. Next weeks marks the start of the inaugural Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (March 5-8, or 4-9...depending on which link you believe). The festival was started to celebrate the connections between music and movies. Oh, Sweet Nothing loves both. So Oh, Sweet Nothing is going to try to attend (and post about) as many of the festival events as possible. If I had to choose one event to attend, it would definitely have to be 16 Days in China, a documentary about Martin Atkins (Public Image Ltd., Pigface, Nine Inch Nails) adventures while discovering the Chinese musical underground. Oh, and Martin Atkins himself will be there to present the film and talk about his new book Tour: Smart. If that isn't enough, there are films and musical appearance from artists such as Califone, Andrew Bird, Wilco, and Sonic. Fucking. Youth. Say what???Like I said, this has been a longtime coming and with sponsors such as neighborhood favorites Handlebar, Green Eye Lounge, and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, you can be sure this is an event that even Wicker Park protectionists (like myself) can get behind.
