Wire - 154

The final installment of my "Wire Trilogy" is 154. With this album, Wire had made the full transition into the post-punk camp, as the focus on layers of sound and melodies are higher here than either Pink Flag or Chairs Missing. Like Chairs Missing, this album seems to have a somewhat cold and distant atmosphere to it...almost as if each song is an experiment. While this may not be the best Wire album, by all means it is the most interesting, and standout tracks such as "The 15th" and "Map Ref. 41n 93w" make 154 another Wire masterpiece in it's own right. After this album, Wire would break up for several years before reforming to forge more quality releases in the 80s and 2000s.
