Johnny Cash - "Cocaine Blues"

Man in Black Posted by Hello

Remember a few years ago where Johnny Cash was the coolest thing to say you listened to so that you could show people how diverse your taste in music was? He was even on MTV, with that cover of NIN's "Hurt"!! Well, I hated that cover. It really wasn't that good.

However, Johnny Cash is the real deal. My mom would make me listen to country to "broaden my horizons" and I hated all of it, until I heard Johnny Cash. So I eventually got around to buying his live album At Folsom Prison and it is easily my favorite live album, as every song is ace and Cash's interaction with the audience throughout the album just showed that he was the real deal and didn't get caught up in the prima donna bullshit. "Cocaine Blues" is my favorite song off of the album, and one of my favorite songs of all time. Even if you've sworn off country give this track a listen. Witty, great storytelling, and there's even a moral to the story ("leave that cocaine beeee!!"). Awesome.
