I had a few other blogs I planned on posting, but all my plans changed after seeing these guys live last night. They put on an amazing show...I was blown away. Especially after they played one of their tunes at about 4 times faster than it was originally meant...causing it to sound like The Stooges "1970" on 2 hits of acid and an ounce of shrooms (you'll see how much I love that song in a later post). So I strongly encourage everyone to do lots and lots of drugs and go to see these dudes live.
As for their sound, well it's a spacey mixture of 60s psychedelic rock, Black Sabbath-ish grooves, and those "is it a boy or a girl?" vocals (it's a dude.)...very cool. "Beyond the Fields We Know" is the highlight of their hard to find, self-titled first album, "Untitled" is actually one of the 3 version I know exist of "Sleepy Silver Door," my favorite Dead Meadow song (check out Matador Records site for more free Dead Meadow tracks, including the unreleased 13 minute version of this song...fucking incredible), and "At Her Open Door" is from their newest album Feathers, their first album as a 4 piece, and the closest Dead Meadow has come to writing a traditional song.
