The Jesus and Mary Chain
Seeing as how this is my all-time favorite band, it's only right that The Jesus and Mary Chain should be my first true post. This is the only band that I can seriously say they have not written a song I didn't like...and the fact that they were a big influence on another one of my favorite bands (My Bloody Valentine, soon to be on here) makes them even more awesome. Equal parts The Velvet Underground and The Beach Boys, The Jesus and Mary Chain were able to make super noisy, fucked up rock songs or beautiful pop songs at will. They also have some of the best quotes in rock and roll history as well. The two songs here show both sides of The Jesus and Mary Chain at their best, "The Living End" from their white noise drenched debut Psychocandy, and "About You" from their more subdued second album Darklands.
PS - Yeah, they're that band whose song was played at the end of Lost in Translation ("Just Like Honey").
